Farewell 2019 Mac Pro

Why I Finally Sold My 2019 Mac Pro (And Where You Can Get It)

After a lot of back-and-forth, I finally made the decision to let go of my 2019 Mac Pro. It wasnโ€™t easyโ€”this machine has been a creative and professional workhorse for yearsโ€”but the time came to make a change that better fits my current needs and lifestyle.

The Machine That Did It All

The 2019 Mac Pro was a beast. I used it for everything from photo and video editing to running multiple virtual machines and large-scale media projects. With its modular design and top-tier performance, it never let me down.

Specs on my unit:

  • Intel Xeon processor
  • 96GB of RAM (user-upgradable)
  • Radeon Pro GPU
  • 2TB SSD storage
  • 8TB SSD RAID 1 or 8TB JBOD
  • Signature cheese grater design

It was built for power usersโ€”and I was definitely one of them.

So Why Sell It?

There were a few key reasons:

  1. Power Consumption: The energy draw was overkill for my daily tasks.
  2. Size and Noise: Not obnoxious, but definitely a large footprint on my desk.
  3. Apple Silicon: Even a base M2 Mac is incredibly efficient and powerful now.
  4. Changing Workflow: I’m doing less 4K editing and more web-based work.

Whatโ€™s Next for Me

Iโ€™ve moved to a 27″ iMac (2020) for nowโ€”great display, more compact, and still powerful enough for everything I do. It fits better in my current work setup and keeps things simpler.

If youโ€™re a power user, editor, or developer who needs serious performance and expandability, this is still an incredibly capable machine.

Thanks for the Memories, Mac Pro.

Letting go isnโ€™t easy, but itโ€™s time for someone else to put this machine to great use. Feel free to reach out with any questions!
